Yes, they are all AKC registered & they are 100% purebred Golden Retrievers. Puppies will also be AKC registered, on a "Limited" Registration without breeding rights.
Our girl, Sadie, is a standard golden color & the current dad we are using, Lincoln, is a darker golden with hints of a rich red color. Most of the puppies are a standard golden, but we usually have a few with the darker color. We can't guarantee what their adult coat will look like, but we can tell you if it will be darker or lighter.
Our litters typically range from 8-10 puppies, but it can vary.
Our puppies are extremely loved by our family. We take shifts & stay up watching them round the clock for the first 2 weeks to ensure their safety & to make sure that they are nursing frequently. They receive early training (ENS-Early Neurological Stimulation), daily age appropriate exercise, proper nutrition, & veterinary care, including first shots & deworming.
We do not own the dad, but we visit their home once or twice a year & make sure that they are healthy & well taken care of. Our females live in our home full-time, go on family vacations, & are very loved. They receive regular vet checkups, stay up-to-date on shots, eat healthy food, go on daily walks, & have a fenced outside area to play or just lay in the sun.
In addition to regular vet checkups & all required shots, both the mom & the dad are OFA tested for good hips & elbows. They are also Embark DNA tested for over 270 things, including good results for heart issues, eyes including PRA1 & PRA2, and Ichthyosis, to name a few. Their health & the health of our puppies is a top priority.
We do not have a facility or kennel. Everything is done in our home, so visits are usually done after puppies are born & by appointment only. We do not own the dad. The current stud that we use is about 2 hours from our home. Our female, Sadie, unfortunately, was trained by us as a watch dog & doesn't do well with strangers, especially if she is being protective of her puppies, but she has an excellent temperament with our family, including with our young children. She is a good & gentle mama to her pups. To limit her stress, we are currently not letting people meet her. You are welcome to meet the puppies, as well as Sadies's son "Max". Max was born in July of 2025 & he is a sweet boy. We plan to get another female Golden in the near future.
Unfortunately, being on the Wait List does not guarantee that we will have a puppy for you. We cannot control how many puppies will be born. For example, if we have 5 male puppies, but have 7 people that want males, we would have to ask the last 2 people if they could take a female instead (if available) or if they could wait until the next litter.
Our current total price per puppy is $2,500, which includes a $500 deposit. The deposit is due after puppies are born & when we have confirmed that there is a puppy available for you. This price includes the puppy's Limited AKC Registration (no breeding rights). Prices may go up in the near future as our expenses, including vet costs, are always increasing.
(If you get 2 puppies, then 2 deposits will be due. We only allow the purchase of 1 or 2 puppies per family, per litter.)
We give public weekly updates on all of the puppies on Instagram (randhlegacygoldens) & add photos to this website. If you don't use Instagram or would like more personal updates or videos, we are happy to do that for you.
Yes. Their "Golden Glitter" is abundant. Investing in a good pet hair vacuum & lint rollers helps.
It definitely helps the puppy to have the best chance possible. But just like people that eat healthy & do all the right things and still get cancer, Goldens can be as healthy as possible and still get cancer or even hip problems. It is less likely, but still possible. Some factors that could increase their risk for cancer are foods with too many ingredients/unclean ingredients & by-products, environmental factors like smoking in the home, or poor quality tap water to name a few.
Where should we start? They are adorable as puppies & are good looking as adults with their fluffy tail! They are playful, energetic, empathetic, affectionate, & thrive on interactions with you. Goldens are extremely loyal to their humans & can be trained to do many things. They are more sensitive & understanding than most other breeds & it's been proven by science. Goldens have a higher number of dopamine receptors & a unique genetic mutation that enhances their oxytocin production (oxytocin is a natural hormone & neurotransmitter, commonly nicknamed the "love" or "cuddle" hormone. It increases feelings of love, bonding, & trust.) Very similar to humans, Goldens experience sensitivity to certain situations & can experience fear, anxiety, & loneliness, which makes them more receptive to your emotions. They are really great with kids (just watch out for those happy wagging tails that could accidentally knock a baby/toddler over). We personally think that Goldens are the very best!
We are not against rescue dogs at all. We have known families that have had great experiences with them. When we were looking to get our first dog, we could not find any good rescue options that would fit our family (& we looked near and far). We have also known lots of families that have had bad experiences with rescues, including young children being attacked. Our opinion for our family after doing years of research- Many rescue dogs come from an unknown past including abuse & unfortunately no matter how much you love them they usually still remember the abuse which could make them a very reactive dog. We were also concerned about their health history or lack of health records. At the end of our search, we were unexpectedly presented with the opportunity to buy our first purebred Golden Retriever & we have no regrets. Our Goldens have been amazing with us & our children. Knowing their health history gave us peace-of-mind for the future. To buy or rescue is a very personal choice based on what you are looking for. We support either option.
No, we are not a puppy mill & we do not associate with any puppy mills.
We are not aware of any allergies.
To be honest, we don't know. Our dogs live in a suburban area & have very limited access to water. A beach vacation is in their future, but they've never been in anything deep enough to swim in yet. The stud/dad that we use lives on a farm out in the country, also not near water, but most Goldens are pretty good swimmers. It helps if they are exposed to water at a young age so they don't develop a fear of water. All of our dogs are very active with running, playing ball, & going on daily family walks.
